(WVVA) - WVVA-TV is celebrating seven decades on the air, while the station went to air on July 31, 1955, our affiliate relationship began roughly two months later. On September 26, 1955, WHIS-TV began airing programming from the National Broadcasting Company-- commonly referred to as NBC. The first program which aired on our station was hosted by Mission Viejo, California native, Pincus Leff. Pincus Leff, better known as'Pinky Lee, was a burlesque comic and host of a children's television program,'The Pinky Lee Show, in the early 1950s. Lee worked as comic of the "baggy pants" variety on stage, becoming an expert at the slapstick, comic dancing and rapid-fire jokes of the burlesque style. Online learning platform approved for West Virginia Hope Scholarship funds

(WVVA) - West Virginia State Treasurer Larry Pack announced today that his office has approved an online learning platform to receive Hope Scholarship Funds. Outschool is a web-based education platform offering more than 140,000 classes to more than 1.5 million students nationwide. The company's headquarters are in San Francisco, California. Hope Scholarship funds can be used to pay tuition at private schools in states other than West Virginia if those private schools have signed up to participate in the Hope Scholarship Program.
